Frilot partner Carl E. Chip Hellmers has a diverse litigation practice which includes the defense of healthcare, medical malpractice, professional liability, transportation and railroad matters. Mr. Hellmers has defended healthcare clients including hospitals, doctors, nurses and long term care facilities in judge and jury trials throughout Louisiana. Working closely with healthcare providers, Mr. Hellmers advises his clients on strategies for risk management and frequently speaks to healthcare professionals and hospital administrators to address the issues facing professionals in the changing healthcare environment.

Mr. Hellmers has also worked extensively on the defense of railroad and trucking matters. He has defended personal injury and wrongful death matters for trucking companies throughout Louisiana, and his work also includes the defense of railroad grade crossing and Federal Employers Liability Act matters for several Class 1 and Short Line railroads.

Mr. Hellmers graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University School of Law after working for several years as a Claim Specialist with St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. He is admitted to all Louisiana State and Federal Courts and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Hospital Association, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
