Frilot associate Jessica Sawyer focuses her practice on insurance coverage, insurance defense, and admiralty and maritime claims. She represents insurers, businesses, and individuals in matters involving first-party property claims, premises liability, wrongful death, personal injury, and coverage disputes.
Prior to joining Frilot, Jessica managed a broad insurance defense and general casualty practice, representing carriers and policyholders throughout Louisiana and other Southeastern states. Her experience includes handling coverage disputes, bad faith claims, insurance fraud investigations, premises liability matters, wrongful death actions, and personal injury litigation. She has extensive experience with motion practice, depositions, mediations, and case management through resolution.
Originally from Upstate New York, Jessica moved to New Orleans in 2015 and has made Louisiana her home ever since. Following law school, she was selected for the Lutz Fellowship through Tulane University Law School, where she worked with a nonprofit organization serving individuals facing housing-related legal challenges. There she represented hundreds of clients in housing-related matters, including eviction proceedings, subsidy disputes, habitability claims, and reasonable accommodation requests. She also worked closely with community organizations on housing access and disability rights initiatives throughout Louisiana.
Jessica earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2020 and her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, cum laude, from State University of New York at Geneseo.
