Frilot partner Nairda T. Colón (Lesa) entered Frilot's second clerkship class in 1996, joining the firm after graduating cum laude from Tulane Law School in 1997. Ms. Colón focuses primarily in the defense of medical malpractice, healthcare, medical products, professional, general and premises liability related cases.

 

For 25 years, she has represented physicians in virtually every specialty, nurses, nurse practitioners, hospitals, outpatient clinics, surgery centers, long-term facilities, and other healthcare providers and organizations throughout Louisiana. Ms. Colón has tried cases in many district courts in Louisiana. She has also argued before the appellate courts of Louisiana and the Louisiana Supreme Court.

 

Ms. Colón has taught the Medical Malpractice Louisiana Tort Class at Tulane Law School since 2007. She has recently joined the adjunct faculty at Loyola University New Orleans School of Law for Trial Advocacy.  Ms. Colón also leads quarterly in-service programs for area hospitals covering various legal issues. She also routinely gives seminars, CLEs and presentations to other attorneys, healthcare providers, medical groups, and hospitals on topics related to litigation in the healthcare field. 

 

Ms. Colón is also committed to the community and has been involved in the continued rebuilding and recovery efforts of the region after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Her efforts with the Save NOLA Project, Habitat for Humanity, and Make It Right included hands-on building as well as fundraising and awareness. She is a member of the LGBTQ+ community and the first openly gay attorney at Frilot, LLC. Additionally, Ms. Colón served on the Team Gleason Executive Legal Committee to help secure an innovative residence for those living with ALS.
